Tucked away in the lush green hills of Kekanadura, Matara, within the fertile Marawa Mount Range, lies the soul of Marawa Cinnamon—a brand built on heritage, authenticity, and purpose.

The story begins in the colonial era, when the land was owned by the Domenico family, settlers of Dutch descent, who recognized the rare value of the southern soil for cultivating cinnamon. The Marawa region, blessed with tropical rains, sea-kissed winds, and rich red earth, was an ideal cradle for what the world would come to revere as True Ceylon Cinnamon (Cinnamomum verum).

After the colonial chapter faded, the estate fell dormant—until 1919, when it was lovingly revived by Nagal Mullage Babun Appu Hami, a visionary local farmer with generations of traditional wisdom. With his bare hands and deep knowledge of the land, he restored cinnamon cultivation to its rightful glory. His son, Heen Appu Hami, continued the craft with pride and discipline, embedding values of purity and respect for nature into every step of the process.

The tradition was strengthened under Nagal Mullage Premachandra, whose commitment to quality earned Marawa Cinnamon quiet renown in local circles. Today, his son, a fourth-generation custodian of this cinnamon heritage, leads the brand into a new era—where age-old traditions meet digital innovation, modern sustainability, and global vision to bring in Ceylon Cinnamon value-added products to the World.

Each cinnamon quill is hand-harvested, gently peeled, and expertly rolled into fine, multi-layered scrolls, preserving its natural aroma, golden tone, and healthful properties. Known today as South’s Best Mount-grown True Ceylon Cinnamon, Marawa stands as a symbol of legacy, purity, and pride.
